Mini Vinnies

What are the Mini Vinnies?

‘Our Mini Vinnies group is very active at St. Elizabeth's.  They get together to organise and talk about helping others in need within our school and community of Wythenshawe.

The Mini Vinnies meet once a week with our Chaplin, Rachel and organise events.

What happens at a Mini Vinnies’ meeting?

A 'President' was elected by all of our Mini Vinnies to lead the meeting and organise the group.

  • The president opens the meeting with a prayer
  • A short spiritual reading/ reflection/ piece of music/ meditation follows the prayer.
  • Group members then talk about the Mini Vinnies' activities they have done since the previous meeting. Any future plans are then discussed, shared and actioned

The Mini Vinnies are orgaising a Hunger Lunch for the CAFOD Family Fast Day this year.

This year’s theme is ‘Turn little fish into big fish’ and we will be particularly thinking about the lives of children and families where CAFOD are helping communities to grow food. This Lent, we are asking our families to help us to raise money so that CAFOD can help the poorest and most vulnerable communities around the world.

This Lent we are also supporting the Pope’s chosen charity of Mission Together and will be splitting the money we raise between these two very worthy causes.

The Mini-Vinnies have organised a Hunger Lunch for Friday, . They will be serving a simple meal of vegetable soup and bread. Everyone – parents, families, parishioners – are very welcome. If you would like a ticket they will be selling them at mass on Sunday and also in the playground each morning. You can also buy tickets at the office.
