Class Activities

This week has been a very busy one in our school it has been Sports week. Throughout the week we have done a lot of exercise from hockey, tag rugby, football, dancing, assault course and not forgetting sports day! But to ensure we have had lots of energy we also needed to make sure we eat healthy foods. This week we made 'powerballs' which give us natural energy from oats, honey and a only a very tiny bit of nutella!

Yesterday was our class trip to Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester. We enjoyed a morning full of activities with Artist Emma Blackburn. We were working with pattern and sculpture and started by making our own wallpaper drawing inspiration from those in the art gallery. Later we looked at different materials and in groups we designed and made our own woodland animal dens. The children had lots of ideas of the different woodland animals we know from bats and birds to badgers and foxes. We were able to choose from a range of materials including hoops, sticks, wool, tape, fabric, cardboard, wallpaper and string to build a full size den for our chosen woodland animal. As you can see from our pictures we made some brilliant dens!

This week has been very exciting as it is our D.T week! As part of this week the whole school has taken part in Activities with 'We are Adventurers' an outdoor learning team. Our class worked with Mike to repair a fairy village that had been destroyed in our school field. The children made their own clay fairies and then built houses to protect them using natural materials. It was fantastic to see some of the ideas the children had and their imagination really shone through. Best of all we could take our fairies home to carry on their adventures in our own gardens!
